Place figs in saucepan and cover with
water. Bring to boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, over
moderate heat 15 to 20 minutes. (For a tangy variation, add
orange or lemon slices to water before cooking) Serve warm
or chilled. Store in refrigerator.
Microwave method: Combine 1 cup figs and 1/2 cup water; cover.
Microwave on HIGH for 3 minutes. Stir and let stand 2 minutes.
