Valley Fig Growers Not Impacted by Fruit Fly Quarantine

FRESNO, Ca. - State officials on Wednesday, May 24, imposed a 105.5 square mile quarantine area that covered nearly all of the city of Fresno’s west side due to the discovery of 6 Fruit Flies.  While fresh figs grown in the quarantine area will be subjected to the quarantine, dried figs are not.  No Valley Fig Growers members will be impacted.

The California Fig Advisory Board issued a press release on the subject.  The California Department of Food and Agriculture established a link on their website regarding the Peach Fruit Fly including a map of the quarantine area.
