The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) was signed into law by President Obama on January 4th, 2011. It aims to ensure the U.S. food supply is safe by shifting the focus of federal regulators from responding to contamination to preventing it. Valley Fig Growers has been practicing food safety prior to this becoming law.
In addition, to complying with Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 110 (21 CFR 110) that describes the GMPs for equipment, facilities, and controls for producing processed foods, Valley Fig Growers has in place HACCP, Food Quality Policies & Procedures, internal and third party audits.
